Local spelling comes first
Attascript! uses your operating system’s dictionary where available, with bundled dictionaries for additional languages. Local checking works without an API key. Gemini is an optional review tool and a fallback for profiles without a suitable local dictionary.
Every profile protects its screenplay terminology and interface lexicon from spelling marks, review entries and Gemini spelling proposals. You can also teach the checker words you intentionally use.
*Windows components depend on your Windows installation. The installer checks the required language components and reuses those already present. An internet connection, Windows permission or a restart may be needed to finish setting up additional components. A bundled dictionary is included with the app.

Review spelling in context
On Windows, choose Edit → Review Spelling…. On Mac, use the Edit menu’s spelling commands. The spelling switch controls the editor’s underlines and is on by default. Turning it off does not change your text.
If a regional dictionary is unavailable, a close alternative can check the same language and writing system. That may use different vocabulary conventions. Names, new words, specialist terms and regional expressions still benefit from a writer’s judgment.
AI fallback means a suitable local dictionary is not included for that profile. Your computer may have an additional dictionary. A Gemini key and service access are needed only when you choose an AI spelling review.
